Ensulizole is a water-soluble UVB sunscreen ingredient that, when used in combination with UVA filters, helps protect skin from sunburn. While some research suggests potential conflicting effects related to DNA damage, these findings have not been consistently demonstrated in human skin. Approved for use at concentrations up to 4% in the United States and higher percentages elsewhere, ensulizole is valued for its lightweight texture and ability to stabilize cosmetic formulas against light-induced discoloration, and is currently undergoing further safety testing by the FDA.
