Mandelic Acid

Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates the skin, promoting smoother texture and improved tone. Its larger molecular size compared to other AHAs like glycolic acid results in slower, more even penetration, making it a well-tolerated option for sensitive skin and those prone to rosacea. Research suggests mandelic acid may be particularly effective in addressing hyperpigmentation, including post-acne marks and sunspots, and can be combined with other exfoliating ingredients like salicylic acid. While typically derived synthetically, mandelic acid is light-sensitive and requires opaque packaging to maintain its efficacy.
